One time it was fright over NFF elections, and then it shifted over the issue of Stephen Keshi’s sack as head coach of the national team. The Amaju Pinnick led NFF at one time sacked Stephen Keshi due to the repeated poor showings of the Super Eagles while playing the 2015 AFCON qualifiers. Keshi was later replaced with Shuaibu Amodu, but Keshi was again reinstated through ‘orders from the above’ connection.
As things stand at the moment, one section of the NFF leaders wants Keshi’s contract renewed so he can continue his job. This section of the NFF leaders are fighting for the continuity of Keshi on the job as super eagles coach. While on the other hand, another section of NFF leaders are gunning for the removal and the replacement of Keshi, this section of leaders feel it’s time for Keshi to leave.
Keshi’s contact expired since June, 2014 after the world cup in Brazil. It is at this point unclear whether this could snowball into a bigger crisis within the NFF.
