PDP Adopts President Goodluck Jonathan As Sole Presidential Candidate

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wednesday night unanimously adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the February 2015 presidential election.

In a briefing at the end of the meeting of the BoT inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Professor Jerry Gana told reporters that the decision was unanimous, adding that Jigawa Governor, Sule Lamido, who had previously signified his intention to run for Presidency, withdrew and directed his deputy to sign the document unanimously adopting Jonathan’s sole candidacy.

The PDP Governors Forum, an association of state governors elected on the platform of the PDP had earlier adopted the President as sole Presidential candidate for the election.
