Jitters As FG Identifies Banks Holding Proceeds of Stolen Crude Oil

BuhariThis may send jitters down the spine of very many in the banking sector as President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday in Abuja declared that banks, financial institutions and countries where payments for stolen Nigerian crude oil were deposited‎ have been identified. Mr President has not given any details yet. It is also not clear when Mr President will reveal the names of the banks involved in the holding of proceeds of stolen crude oil.

A statement issued by Mr Femi Adesina, ‎the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicit in Abuja today, said the government had taken efforts to recover stolen loots a step further.

President Muhammadu B‎uhari made the disclosure while meeting with visiting United States Congressmen.

The president  acknowledged the support and cooperation his administration was getting from the international community in gathering required intelligence for tracing and recovering stolen national resources.

It is becoming very clear that Mr President is serious on promises made during elections and He intends to deliver on those promises. Mr President had publicly declared He would fight corruption in the country.
