AnuIkotun Senior High School female football team yesterday zoomed into the final of the 2015 GTBank Lagos State Principals Cup finals after a 3-1 thumping of Government Senior College, Agege at the Onikan Waterfront.

The match which began in a high tempo witnessed speed, rugged defending and attacking football at its best. Ikotun girls captained by peerless Salihu Anu were on the offensive in the early minutes of the first half, and they soon proved why they got to the semifinal when Amusilem Chinnerem spotting jersey number 7 slotted home the first goal.

Attempts by Government Senior College, Agege girls to level scores only ended up exposing their rear. Captain Anu increased the tally with a clever finish just before the end of the first stanza.

On resumption, the girls from Agege pulled one back, raising hope for a possible equaliser that would have dragged the match into extra time. But that was not to be as Chinnerem was not done yet. She was on hand to put the match beyond the hard fighting Agege girls with her second goal of the match to put scores at 3-1.

Captain of the victorious girls from Ikotun, Salisu Anu was declared man of the match. By this feat, the school has now qualified for the final and will meet Oriwu Senior Model college Ikorodu who defeated CMS Girls Senior Sec School Bariga 4-3 on penalties Wednesday.Courtesy:vanguard.
