Deziani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources has been elected the president of Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries,OPEC. She has made history by this election as this makes her the first ever female president of OPEC.

Deziani Alison-Madueke is a key minister in this administration being the minister of petroleum resources. Alison-Madueke was elected on Thursday at the 166th General Meeting of the body in Vienna, Austria.
She replaces Libya’s Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish, who held forth till she emerged.
Before her election, she was the alternate president of OPEC. Alison-Madueke will be OPEC president for one full year. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation confirmed her appointment.
