The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the results of three Local Government Areas in the governorship election in Bayelsa State conducted on Saturday.
The result shows that in Yenagoa LGA, which has the largest number of voters, the PDP scored a total of 24,258 votes, while APC got 14,563. The PDP candidate and incumbent Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, also came out victorious in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA, where he polled a total 7,619 votes to 6,396 for Chief Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress.
In Sagbama LGA, the PDP amassed 28,934 votes to 5,382 for the APC and 506 for the Peoples Democratic Movement. Reports also had it on Sunday that Sylva, in the company of thugs, forced INEC adhoc staff to thumb print for the APC at gunpoint at a polling unit in Ward 4 of Brass Local Government Area.
The report say the incident took place at Dakuraku open field in Brass LGA where the corp members, working for INEC, rigged the election in favour of the APC for the safety of their lives. Meanwhile, the PDP has called on INEC to urgently investigate the matter and take necessary action to forestall future occurrences.
Meanwhile, the collation of the result in Ekeremor town of Ekeremor Local Government Area has run into a hitch. Security reports had it on Sunday that there are distress calls from Returning Officers and National Youth Service Corps members in the area that suspected thugs working for the APC have laid siege to them with an intention to hijack the results.Courtesy: Eagle online
