Ezeocha noted that the hospital was upgraded to a branch of the Anambra State University Teaching Hospital by the Peter Obi administration but regretted that the former governor did not complete the new structures being put in place there before he left office.

According to her, work has stopped at the site, as the contractor complained of lack of payment, hence putting the project at the risk of being abandoned.

She said: “The staff and, indeed, the community are waiting and praying for the day the ongoing construction of the structures will be completed and equipped and become operational. We feel concerned that Prof. Akunyili did not live to see the hospital’s development completed.”
