President Goodluck Jonathan last night met behind closed doors with People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governors.
The meeting, held at the First Lady’s Conference Room of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, started at 9pm and was still going on as of the time of filing this report.
Journalists were barred from entering the venue of the meeting which security officers described as strictly private.
It was gathered that the president convened the meeting to finalise arrangements for formal declaration of his intention to seek re-election in the 2015 general elections.
A source also hinted that the meeting would also discuss ways of resolving the lingering tussle between second-term governors eyeing senatorial seats and the occupants of the seats.
Present at the meeting were Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo and the governors of Kebbi, Kaduna, Gombe, Adamawa, Bauchi, Ondo, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Cross River, Katsina, Abia, Bayelsa and Niger States.
Others were the Acting Governor of Taraba State as well as the deputy governors of Kogi and Nasarawa states.
